Most job contracts are region specific, however most EFL jobs require a commitment of 6 to 12 months. In China and Korea the schools expect teachers to take up a job for at least one academic year, while schools in Thailand may employ a TEFL teacher for as short as 3 months.
Most TEFL job contracts provide free accommodation and insurance benefits along with a comfortable monthly pay. The contracts also cover all legal formalities for the teachers like work permit and visas. Some countries like Korea also provide airfare and other benefits like extra tuition hours.
Schools usually work from Monday to Friday with a minimum 24 to maximum 30 hours of teaching. Depending on the kind of school the frequency and timing may vary and so will the school semester. All schools have specified breaks and holidays. In addition like in TEFL China one may be employed in a Language school which unlike a regular school conducts classes in the evenings or on weekends
Teachers can also work on weekends for extra pay. Teachers can earn more by working during summer in English camps which are fun yet well paying.
